CHRISTOPHER ANDREWS ARCHITECT & TOWN PLANNER

WEST VILLAGE APARTMENT RENOVATION, NEW YORK CITY

This brownstone renovation in Greenwich Village was designed in 1993.  Christopher Andrews worked very closely with a specialty painter and master cabinetmaker to fulfill the musician client’s exuberant vision.  This collaborative effort helped create a highly personal retreat.  The use of color to shape interior space was employed extensively.  Many of the project's patterns were developed with the help of A Pattern Language.  They included "rich deep colors", "seating centers", "pools of light" and "open shelves".
