CHRISTOPHER ANDREWS ARCHITECT & TOWN PLANNER

PARKSTADT OPEN HOUSING, FRANKFURT GERMANY 1995

Christopher Andrews worked on this housing project as part of a research study for  graduate studio and seminar at UC Berkeley in collaboration with the The Center for Environmental Structure, including the architects Christopher Alexander and Hajo Neis.  The program is for a 300-unit apartment complex for Hoechst pharmaceutical company.  In the seminar we studied some of the critical patterns for a structure that would allow the inhabitants to design their own apartments, while also creating an urban texture of positive open exterior spaces.  All of this work is copyrighted by The Center for Environmental Structure.
