CHRISTOPHER ANDREWS ARCHITECT & TOWN PLANNER

CHILMARK  MASSACHUSETTS

This compact house (less than 800 square feet) on Martha’s Vineyard that sits atop a hill overlooking Menemsha Harbor was designed and built in 1989,  inspired by the local shingled houses. It is sited among the existing trees and shrubs as if it had always been there.  It utilizes the pattern of “Site Repair” from A Pattern Language, restoring a neglected part of the property.
