ANATOLIAN CARPETS |
|
Handmade carpets from Anatolia (Turkey) have inspired designers for centuries. The Lotto pattern (above left) named after the Italian renaissance painter Lorenzo Lotto (examples of this carpet pattern appeared in his work), contains a unique density of intense patterns, and warrants sustained examination. It has the quality of a living being. The drawing on the right is from my study of the Lotto pattern.
